The never-ending search for better sleep may just be coming to an end. And the most surprising part: our stress-free nights are thanks to a mattress that we ordered online and came delivered to our door rolled up in a box.

But let’s backtrack a bit.

Snuggle-Pedic mattresses feature a unique two-layer structure that features a soft, flexible, memory foam on top, and a firmer base layer on the bottom. The memory foam has just enough give to release any tension, while also providing a nice “cushion” that molds to the shape of your shoulders, hips and back. The firmer base layer, meantime, provides the spinal support needed for back and stomach sleepers.

I typically prefer firmer mattresses, but there was something nice about the way this Snuggle-Pedic mattress cradled every inch of my body no matter how I rolled or slept. Imagine diving into bed, but instead of sinking, there’s a gentle landing pad that keeps you afloat. Even if you are on the heavier side, you won’t have to worry about “hammocking” in the Snuggle-Pedic mattress. The company says the mattress is designed to provide optimal support for your spine, no matter your weight or body type. And, the “Flex-Support” memory foam makes the mattress easier to move around on without disturbing your partner next to you.

The mattress cover is made from a super silky viscose bamboo fiber mix, with just a touch of lycra as well. The micro stitching gives it a nice breathability.

Like Snuggle-Pedic’s hugely popular pillows , the modular cover comes with a zipper. You can actually unzip the cover, and alter the layers inside to adjust  your mattress to find the fit and comfort level that’s right for you. Not sure how to do it? Contact Snuggle-Pedic and they’ll do it for you. It’s almost like getting your own custom mattress in your own home.

air flow

I had previously bought a foam mattress topper for my mattress, but I found it very hot, especially in the summers. Turns out, most foam mattresses don’t breathe well, and absorbyour body heat, instead of letting air flow.

The Snuggle-Pedic mattress solves this problem by offering a patented “Airflow Transfer System” that allows your body heat to dissipate evenly. Thousands of tiny surface holes on the mattress create full airflow circulation, giving a cooler, more comfortable sleep. I found myself sweating less, and hopefully that means the mattress will hold up better in the long-run too, with no moisture to damage the material.

Sidenote: I’m not sure if it’s the tiny holes or the grippy material, but I found that my sheets didn’t ride up or “un-hook” from my Snuggle-Pedic mattress like it used to with my old mattress. Even if I was shifting around in bed, the sheets stayed put.

You already know about mattresses that come in a box. The Snuggle-Pedic is no different. The mattress comes rolled and vacuum sealed for eco-friendly shipping. It was also delivered straight to my door, which was way more convenient that having to lug a giant mattress home from say, Ikea.

Once I got the mattress out of the box, I simply unrolled it and gave it a little bit of time to take shape. The whole unboxing process took about an hour or so before the mattress was ready to be used. Not bad at all.

All Snuggle-Pedic mattresses are CertiPUR-US Certified, which means it uses foam tested and made without ozone depleters, PBDE flame retardants, mercury, lead and other heavy metals, formaldehyde, and phthalates. The mattress is also hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant.

We like that the mattresses are manufactured in the USA, from the company’s factory and headquarters near Los Angeles. It gives us more confidence in their quality and labor standards, and it also makes us feel good to be supporting the local economy. It’s also just nice to know where all your materials and products are coming from.

Laying Down

I definitely slept better after swapping out my old generic mattress for a Snuggle-Pedic mattress. I didn’t have to shift as much during the night to find a “perfect position” and whether I was on my side or on my back, I felt supported. I like curling up under the blankets when I sleep, and, coupled with the warmer weather rolling in, I was nervous that a hot mattress would make me sweat. But the “air flow” technology that the company talks up really makes a difference. I felt cool and comfortable through the night. The most important thing: when I woke up in the morning, I felt more rested and refreshed than I have in a long, long time.

It seems like I’m not alone: the mattress also has almost all 5-star reviews on Amazon, with hundreds of happy customers.

Snuggle-Pedic is so confident in their mattresses, that they offer a four-month sleep trial with free returns. (Any mattresses that are returned are also donated to charity, so nothing goes to waste). The company also has 20-year warranty, so you can basically shop — and sleep — soundly.
